Farm Payments Draw Focus, While Market Prices & Income Appear Strong

Recent news articles and reports have highlighted various issues associated with federal crop subsidies and conservation payments. Interestingly, as economic variables positively impact the market prices of some program crops, federal crop subsidy payments are projected to decline. Although developments regarding the 2007 Farm Bill remains a key concern, commodity demand and potential changes in the Renewable Fuels Standard will be significant factors that could impact biofuel production levels, crop allocation planting decisions, market prices and farm income.
